Finding light at the end of a pitch-black tunnel seems impossible, but acclaimed Norwegian director Joachim Trier manages brilliantly, with a film that doesn't once resort to cliches about loss and grief, but gracefully contemplates the impact of traumatic memories.

Synopsis

Three years after the death of a war correspondent, an event in her memory reunites her husband and their two estranged sons. A deeply buried secret will come to the surface and the three men will have to redefine their relationships with each other, as well as their relationships with their absent wife and mother.
