Continuing on topics that interested him in his Alienation Trilogy, Antonioni presents his first coloured film, keeping his muse, Monica Vitti, in the leading role, next to Richard Harris.

Synopsis

Giuliana, an engineer's wife and mother of a child, with a history of suicide attempts, is in a state of alienation from her social and human environment. She desperately tries to grab on to something, such as, for example Corrado, her husband's colleague, with whom she begins a love affair.
