The first of the two Palme d'Ors of the great Belgian brothers Dardenne is one of the most characteristic and complete examples of their political and anthropocentric cinema, a stormy and prophetic commentary on the financial crisis in Europe.

Synopsis

Rosetta is a girl determined to find a job at any cost. She escapes the world of her alcoholic mother, a tramp who lives in a crumbling trailer and abandons her daughter, leaving her to manage all by herself. Rosetta sees the abyss looming before her and will do anything to avoid it. She is obsessed with the fear of obscurity, the shame of not belonging somewhere. She wants a normal life, with them, among them.
