Blending the innocence of a children’s fable with the raw reality of the wild, Jean-Jacques Annaud’s major commercial and artistic triumph becomes a meditation on the relationship between humans and nature, not as a conflict but as a fragile coexistence.

Synopsis

A young bear cub is orphaned when its mother is killed by hunters. Roaming the mountains alone, it finds unexpected protection in a large male bear. As the hunters press on with their pursuit, the cub learns to survive in a world where trust and danger exist side by side.
