Crime, family and tradition. Set in the Colombia of the '70s, Oscar nominee Ciro Guerra ("Embrace of the Serpent") along with Cristina Gallego, unfold an evocative saga of crime and morality, which opened the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes '18.
Synopsis
The opening note that started the song of the Colombian drug trade is getting personal through the tragic story of an indigenous family, the Wayúu, who find themselves, almost unwittingly, involved in the growing business of selling marijuana to young Americans in the 70s. When greed and passion collide with the unwritten laws of honor, a civil war breaks out that endangers their lives, culture and ancestral traditions.
