After the thunderous "Miserables" that earned him an International Academy Award nomination, Ladj Ly returns with another incendiary, deeply personal and combative portrait of a community struggling against urban gentrification and looking for a way and a place to belong.

Synopsis

After the sudden death of the town's mayor, an idealistic young doctor is appointed in his place. He intends to continue the policies of his predecessor, who dreamed of upgrading a working-class neighborhood. Standing in the way of his plans will be a young French woman of Mali descent who refuses to see her family driven out of the neighborhood where she grew up.
