Haute gastronomie -much like cinema- needs love, passion and vigor, elements that Vincent's film, inspired by the true story of the first female chef in the kitchen of French President Francois Mitterrand, generously offers in this satisfying, delicious cinematic…dish.
Synopsis
Hortense Laborie (inspired by Danièle Mazet-Delpeuch), a renowned cook from Perigord, is astonished when the French president asks her to work as his personal chef. She will be responsible for all his meals, but also those of his special guests at the presidential palace. Despite the competition and jealousy she faces from the kitchen crew, Hortense quickly takes control. The authenticity of her cooking fascinates the president, but the hallways of the palace are full of backstabbers.
