An impressive portrait of a larger-than-life persona, as well as a cautionary parable about how fake news can even rewrite our own history. Imelda Marcos returns to the Philippines and her journey is recorded by an award-winning documentary filmmaker.

Synopsis

Focusing on the indomitable character of Imelda Marcos, the film explores the turbulent legacy of the Marcos regime and describes Imelda's current effort to help her son, Bongbog, win the vice presidency. To that end, Imelda is essentially rewriting her family's history of corruption, replacing it with a narrative of maternal love for her country. At a time when fake news are influencing elections, Imelda's comeback story serves as a dark tale of warning.
